Marygrove College is Fun for Kids This Summer

Kids' Camp Experiences in Crafts, Arts, Sports & Learning

DETROIT, April 26, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Marygrove College will again provide a whole series of educational, sports, crafts and arts experiences for Detroit area children ages 5 through 18 through its Summer Camps for Kids program. Registration began March 1st with classes beginning June 27th.

A special addition to the Marygrove program this year is the before- and after-camp day care, which is key to some children's participation. Full- and half-day programs are available in everything from theater, dance, art, sports, computer basics and desktop publishing to the popular "Money Matters" with Gail Perry Mason and Forensic Science Camp, where kids have the opportunity to become a crime scene sleuth.

Martha Soleau, assistant dean of Marygrove College's Division of Continuing Education, said, "A summer camp experience that is safe and fun at the same time is attractive to many parents. This year, Marygrove has put together an array of experiences in sports like golf, soccer, t-ball and volleyball; art, theater, dance including hip hop; computers; sewing; chess; money matters; publishing and forensic science."

Sherry Lefton, assistant dean of Continuing Education, explained that Marygrove has been able to address the concerns of many parents for the care of their child during the day, both before classes and after. "Marygrove is sensitive to the needs of working families and so we've structured a program that can accommodate children so that parents can get to work and not have to worry about their kids."

Course fees run from $125 for half-day experiences to $279 for full-day camps. For more information or to register, please contact the Continuing Education Division at Marygrove College, 313-927-1214, or www.marygrove.edu/ce/summercamps.
