Megola Answers Shareholder Inquiries Regarding ScaleGuard Technology

CORUNNA, Ontario, May 31, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Megola Inc. (OTCBB:MGOA), a leading environmental solution provider in physical water treatment, microbiological control, wastewater treatment and air purification, released a statement today in response to shareholder inquiries regarding the ScaleGuard technology and it's competition.

"It is exciting that our shareholders are taking interest in the product side of our company as much as they are in the public side. With the advent of the 'big box' stores jumping into the water treatment marketplace we felt it was important to, once again, explain how Megola stands above the rest in regards to product superiority and customer satisfaction," says Joel Gardner, CEO of Megola Inc.

Large retailers such as Home Depot and Canadian Tire are now selling inexpensive physical water treatment devices to the residential market. While the need for treatment in many cases should not be questioned, the technology that is used definitely should be.

"Since our inception we have had to prove our technology to the many detractors in the water treatment industry and have done so with great success. However, the multitude of inferior magnetic and antennae devices out there makes it difficult to change the negative perceptions that surround physical water treatment devices, much to the delight of the big water softener companies," continues Gardner.

The antenna device -- simply a set of wires wrapped around the pipe in opposite directions and then grounded at its open end -- uses low-cost electronic components that can generate only weak, symmetric magnetic fields and/or radio waves that will influence the behaviour of the hard water only under specific and ideal conditions. The antenna device cannot be programmed to change the frequency with which its weak magnetic field sweeps through the water (assuming that the field is able to penetrate the pipe material) and can, thereby, have some effect under only a narrow variety of water conditions. Likewise, permanent magnets are limited in their efficiency and effectiveness to very specific water conditions.

The ScaleGuard device, on the other hand, uses a closed-coil system that enables the induction of strong magnetic fields that are able to penetrate any pipe material and carry the patented, digitally-generated, pulse-modulated signals into the water. The resulting highly-penetrative induced magnetic field is used as a carrier for low-voltage (virtual) and high-frequency (pulse modulated) signals that can be modified (programmed) to take into account such parameters as water hardness, pipe material, pipe diameter, temperature, water flow, system water capacity, and so on. This allows the ScaleGuard system to be highly efficient and effective in a variety of water conditions. In all, the ScaleGuard system has eight program frequency settings and eight power settings -- a total of 64 combinations.

Further to offering a superior product, the way in which Megola distributes the ScaleGuard technology allows for increased customer support and satisfaction.

"Consumers gain access to our products through dealing directly with our distributors, many of whom are master plumbers and electricians. An educated consumer is important to us, as is a properly installed and maintained system. We do not see the need or the advantage of selling our ScaleGuard systems anonymously across a department store counter. Sales volumes, while important, do not come before our belief in helping people with hard water problems in an environmental and ethical manner. Our extensive warranty proves that we stand behind our technology and are here to make a difference, not just a sales quota," adds Gardner.

Megola Inc. (http://www.megola.com) is in the process of greatly expanding both the scope of its offerings and its reach throughout the global marketplace. This is a continuance of the new business model that was launched last year, which the company believes will significantly boost its revenues.
