Nevada Star Resource Corp. Announces Start of Exploration Program for the New MAN Alaska Gold Project

SEATTLE, Aug. 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nevada Star Resource Corp. (OTCBB:NVSRF) (TSX-V:NEV) ("Nevada Star") is pleased to announce the August 2005 exploration program on its newly defined MAN Alaska Gold Project, 270 km (170 miles) south of Fairbanks. The program will involve field mapping of rock types, hydrothermal alteration and structural features, and geochemical assays of samples from the lode gold prospects, located in the Alaska Range of south-central Alaska. The objective of the program is to develop and refine drill targets for the 2006 exploration season.

The MAN Alaska Gold Project is 40 square kilometres (10,000 acres) in size and enclosed within the north-central part of Nevada Star's MAN Alaska Ni-Cu (PGE) Project. The MAN Alaska Gold Project area encompasses a broad WNW-trend of five lode gold prospects and historic placer mining operations dating back to the early 1900s. At this stage, the highest-grade rock assays were 7 g/t Au, 90 g/t Ag and 16% Cu (i.e., Au-Ag-Cu mineralization). Overall, 21 rock assays returned values of =1 g/t Au.

The main features of the five prospects of the MAN Alaska Gold Project are summarized as follows:

-- Specimen: highest-grade prospect of the MAN Alaska Gold Project
area with rock assays as high as 6.89 g/t Au, 15.8 g/t Ag and 15.8%
Cu. Assays for 13 of 57 (23%) rock samples returned values of =1 g/t
Au. The host rocks are Triassic picrite volcanics, which have been
altered to albite and carbonate. The Au-Ag-Cu mineralization forms
a lensoidal zone adjacent to a major W-trending fault
    (Airstrip Fault).
 -- Gezzi: highest-grade rock assays were 3.09 g/t Au, 25.7 g/t Ag
and 6.60% Cu. The host rocks are Triassic porphyritic felsic gabbro
and mafic gabbro. The Au-Ag-Cu mineralization is present as discrete
zones in close proximity to the Airstrip Fault.
 -- Gezzi South: highest-grade rock assays were 2.49 g/t Au, 3.40 g/t
Ag and 0.50% Cu. The host rocks are Triassic mafic gabbro and Late
Paleozoic limestone. The limestone has been altered to calc-silicate
minerals. The Au-Ag-Cu mineralization is located adjacent to
    NNW-trending faults.
 -- Broxson Ridge: highest-grade rock assays were 5.81 g/t Au, 86.7 g/t
Ag and 2.7% Cu, in addition to soil anomalism. The host rocks are
Late Paleozoic pyritiferous and calcareous sedimentary rocks and
gabbro. The sedimentary rocks have been metamorphosed to low-grade
hornfels and altered to calc-silicate and argillic mineral
assemblages. The Au-Ag-Cu mineralization is associated with pyrite
    pods and major faults.
 -- White Marker: highest-grade rock assays were 3.69 g/t Au, 2.4 g/t
Ag and 0.30% Cu. The host rocks are Triassic melagabbro near the
south margin of the mafic-ultramafic Rainy intrusive complex. The
Au-Ag-Cu mineralization is adjacent to an east-northeast trending
fault, possibly an extension of the Airstrip Fault.

About the MAN Alaska Project

Nevada Star Resource Corp's 271 square mile Alaskan property, officially called the MAN Alaska Project, is located 164 miles southeast of Fairbanks and 248 miles northeast of Anchorage. Exploration by Nevada Star began in 1995 in this large area which is characterized by its extremely anomalous nickel, PGE, and gold concentrations.

Exploration results to date on the MAN Alaska property indicate that it has the potential for a significant discovery of nickel, platinum-group elements, and gold metals.

The MAN Alaska Project, which consists of three distinct project areas, two known for high nickel and platinum group elements and one project area with high gold, silver, and copper values, is supported by a solid infrastructure: it is accessible from two paved highways and borders the Alaska Pipeline. View the project maps at http://www.nevadastar.com/s/MANProject.asp for a breakdown of the project areas.

The Dunite Hill/Fish Lake project area (area 1) of the MAN Alaska property is now under joint venture with Anglo American Exploration (USA), Inc. (AAEUS), who is performing its exploration program pursuant to the agreement with Nevada Star. AAEUS is a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Anglo American plc, a global leader in the mining and natural resource sector. Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, AAEUS can earn a 51 percent interest in the southern portion of the MAN Alaska property by spending a total of $12 million USD by 2008. AAEUS has the right to increase their interest by an additional 19 percent by completing a positive feasibility study, at its expense, and an additional 5 percent by arranging production financing for both AAEUS and Nevada Star. Areas 2 and three are being explored by the company.

Nevada Star Resource Corp. is a mineral exploration company that uses advanced technology to search for metals that are in high demand world-wide. In addition to the Alaska property, Nevada Star currently has projects in Nevada and Utah. The Nevada and Utah properties are in joint partnership with Round Mountain Gold, and Western Utah Copper Company, respectively. Both properties are scheduled to go into production in early 2006.
