Why Do Americans Pay 27 Cents a Day to Have a Child Beaten or Sexually Abused

MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) --

WHAT: Book Signing of "A Child Betrayed" by Mary Jane Bovo,
M.D. The book tells why Americans are paying to have
children abused. It exposes the inadequacies of
Child Protection Agencies across the United States
and exposes why federal reviews of these agencies
resulted in a 100% failure rate (50 out of 50 states
             failed the review).

 WHEN: September 15, 2005,
              6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
              Refreshments Served

WHERE: American Assn. of University Women
              New York City Branch House
              111 East 37th Street
(Between Park Ave. & Lexington Ave.)
              New York, NY 10016-3041

WHY: --- So no other child will have to be part of the four
a day that die from child abuse or be abused
because of the neglect of the Child Protective
Services in this country not doing their jobs.

--- To get congressional hearings on a nationally
broken system, that will hear from the victims,
families whose children were removed unfairly,
and from survivors, not agency workers.

--- To let each taxpayer to know that their 27 cents
a day portion of the $22.2 billion spent
for Child Services in this country is only
allowing continued abuse and death for the very
children they are supposed to protect, because
the people who are supposed to protect our
children only collect paychecks but don't do
their jobs -- protecting our greatest national
                  treasure, the children.

--- To raise money for AAUW-NYC Chapter Project
                  STEPS: Services - Training - Education -
Prevention - Self-Help To End Family Violence.
100% of all money from book sales will be
                  donated to the STEPS Project.
