A welcome letter from Mayor Daley greets readers and is followed by a new 184-page front-of-book section that contains a wealth of information about things to do and see in Chicago. In addition to a calendar of events and Chicago street maps, it contains a complete Navy Pier Guide, shopping and mall guides, dining and entertainment guide, city and suburban zip codes, CTA & Metro maps, airport maps and museum information.

This year the directory cover features a photo highlighting the return of one of Chicago's favorite events, the Tall Ships(r) festival. The event, which will be held August 3 - 9, 2006, is a celebration of the city's rich maritime history. R.H. Donnelley is a sponsor of this year's festival.
