Nasir Named President and Chief Executive Officer of Sysco Food Services of Indianapolis

Current President and CEO Mills Appointed Chairman of Indianapolis Operation


HOUSTON, April 3, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that L. Paul Nasir has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Sysco Food Services of Indianapolis. Mr. Nasir, who currently serves as executive vice president of that company, will assume his new duties effective immediately. He succeeds Walter C. Mills, who will continue as chairman of that operation until his retirement in July 2006.

Mr. Nasir, 47, began his SYSCO career in 1990 as a marketing associate at the company's Detroit operation. He progressed to district sales manager in 1997 and later that same year he was promoted to regional sales manager. Mr. Nasir was named vice president of sales in 1999, progressed to senior vice president of sales the following year and in 2004 was appointed senior vice president of the Detroit operation. In March 2004 he was promoted to his current position.

Mr. Nasir is a native of Detroit, where he attended the University of Detroit. He and his wife, Kimberly, have two daughters and a son and reside in Indianapolis.

Mr. Mills, 57, is a 30-year SYSCO veteran. He first joined the company in 1976 as a marketing associate at SYSCO's Cincinnati operation. He progressed to a variety of sales and management positions, including director of marketing and vice president of marketing, before being named vice president and general manager of the company's Lafayette, Indiana facility in 1984. In 1986 that company merged with another SYSCO facility and Mr. Mills was promoted to executive vice president of that operation. Mr. Mills next moved to Louisville in 1989 as executive vice president of that subsidiary and later that same year he was appointed to his current duties in Indianapolis.

Mr. Mills is a graduate of Centre College of Kentucky, located in Danville, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1971. He and his wife, Sina, have a daughter and a son and reside in Indianapolis. Sysco Food Services of Indianapolis, LLC, provides products and services to foodservice operations including restaurants, country clubs, healthcare and educational institutions, lodging establishments, business and industry locations and other foodservice operations throughout Indiana.
