DEC Earns First Interview Honors for Fourth Time, Launches New Website

ATLANTA, Ga., April 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- First Interview Network honored DEC Consultants -- a leading medical sales and marketing search firm -- for its achievements for the fourth year in a row. DEC President David E. Coad accepted the award on behalf of his San Francisco Bay area firm at the recent annual meeting of the world's largest recruiter network dedicated to sales, sales management and marketing staffing for Fortune 1000 firms.

"First Interview sets very high standards for its affiliates in terms of achievement, ethics and other criteria," explains Bob Werrbach, CEO of First Interview, which was formed in 1979 and now has 300-plus global affiliates. "But even among the best, David and DEC consistently rise to the top.

"David has been in medical device sales for many years -- in fact, he was a star surgical salesman himself in the 1990's. He went into high tech briefly but returned to what he knew best -- medical marketing and sales -- to form DEC in 2001. The following year, he was "Rookie of the Year," the next year "#1 Recruiter"; 2004 competition was fierce and he fell to #3. This year, David was neck in neck with another affiliate and came in a very close second for his achievements in 2005. Anyone who knows David knows he'll kill himself to be #1 again next year."

While being honored in Las Vegas, DEC was also launching a new and improved corporate Web site featuring all new content as well as video interviews with a diverse group of satisfied clients.

DEC is able to "serve small companies such as ours in a very efficient way," says Mohamed S. Elmandjra, PhD, president and CEO of ViOptix, Inc., a Fremont, Calif., firm that develops and manufactures non-invasive local tissue oxygen measuring devices for reconstructive and plastic surgery, and other applications. Elmandjra also discusses the opportunities available in the medical device industry and why it is so "attractive":

"Number one, it's a very stable industry. People continue to need healthcare and healthcare continues to develop. It is not a "boom and bust" type of activity ... It's also very rewarding...from the personal touch perspective...when you get testimonial letters from somebody saying, 'thank you for inventing that machine because it saved my daughter's life'."

Orthofix National Sales Manager Todd Moberg calls DEC "my number one firm," and talks about "the great retention" he enjoys with DEC candidates, why they perform well and are promoted often. The McKinney, Tex., firm is a subsidiary of Curacao-based Orthofix International NV (Nasdaq:OFIX). Moberg manages U.S. sales of Orthofix's spine, reconstruction and trauma products from an office in Pleasanton, Calif.

Nobel Biocare (GVA ZHR:NOBE) products help dentists "perform implant dentistry and restorative procedures with unrivalled accuracy and ease" -- a market segment enjoying tremendous growth. "To keep pace," says Thomas Von Sydow -- area sales director for the west and Mexico country manager -- "we have had to grow our sales organization quickly. David and his team were able to recruit the talent we needed in record time (30 days)," recruiting 50 qualified candidates nationwide in time to have all attend the national sales meeting of the Yorba Linda, Calif., company, a subsidiary of a global European firm.

Eileen Gilhooly discusses what makes David Coad and the medical device industry so "great." Three years ago, Coad placed her in a position he once held himself at a leading surgical products manufacturer. Intense company-paid training helped the San Francisco resident transition from selling office equipment to a high six-figure salary training surgeons in state-of-the-art techniques for laparoscopic surgery, which she calls "the latest and greatest type of surgery."

Today, candidates like Gilhooly can do more than just search the DEC site for a career to match their skills and experience. The new Web site gives them access to free resume and relocation info, and, once they pass DEC's tough screening, special password-protected resources.
