Solid Improvement in Core Business


FRISCO, Texas, April 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Avatar Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:AVSY) today announced year-end results for 2005 ended December 31, 2005. Revenues for 2005 were $2,278,404 compared to $2,661,370 for 2004. Revenues were affected by a 76.2% decrease in hardware sales. Hardware sales were $259,258 for 2005 compared to $1,091,259 for 2004. Hardware sales were unusually high in 2004 due to three transactions with major customers. Net Income of 2005 was $168,130 or $.02/share compared to $191,557 in 2004 or $.02/share. The other three revenue components, software sales, maintenance revenues and professional services, increased 28.6% to $2,019,146 in 2005 from $1,570,111 in 2004. Costs of sales were down $595,921 or 48.2% primarily due to the decrease in hardware sales. Operating expenses were up $245,993 or 21.6% primarily due to an increase in sales and marketing expense and increased depreciation and amortization. Sales and marketing increased due to the addition of a sales manager to market iSynergy Avatar's document management software and related increased travel, printing costs and trade show expenses.
