Aurora Oil & Gas Corporation Announces Board of Directors Retirement

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., June 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Aurora Oil & Gas Corporation (AMEX:AOG) today announced that Howard M. Crosby is stepping down from his role on the Board of Directors. This completes nearly 11 years of activity with the Company, serving in various capacities including President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and currently as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Crosby commented, "It is hard to consider leaving something in which you have invested so much of yourself. At the same time, I know that the Company is being left in the hands of a trustworthy group who are fully capable of taking it to the next level. I look forward to watching their progress over the coming years."

At this time, Mr. Crosby is serving as Executive Vice President and Director of Platinum Diversified Mining, Executive Vice President and Director of U.S. Silver Corporation, Director of White Mountain Titanium and Director of High Plains Uranium. The increased responsibilities of these organizations and travel schedule severely limit Mr. Crosby's ability to effectively participate on Aurora's Board of Directors.

William W. Deneau, President and CEO of Aurora said, "Howard is a great entrepreneur and was perfect for the Company in its infant stages. He took it from nothing and created significant value for the shareholders. Now that a post-merger management team is in place, Howard has the freedom to pursue other business activities. We are sorry to see a partner and friend move on, but are excited to support him in his new adventures."

The Company's Nominating and Governance Committee will be responsible for filling this vacancy on Aurora's Board. The Committee has initiated the process to locate a candidate and will notify appropriate parties when a selection has been made.
