SAN RAMON, Calif., July 12, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- California was a great place for prospective business buyers to find the right small business for sale during the past month. 2,462 California small businesses, franchises and business opportunities were sold between the first week of June and the first week of July 2006 according to BizBen.com
Continuing a steady trend, the most attractive area for those looking to buy a small business in California this past month was Los Angeles County, where 660 small businesses were sold during June. Orange County and San Diego County were the second and the third best places to find a business for sale in California this past month, with 274 and 323 small businesses being sold in each county respectively.
The June numbers mark a 2 percent increase over sales in May which were just over 2,400 small businesses sold. Over the past 12 month period, nearly 23,000 small businesses in California were sold, an average of 1,800 businesses sold each month according to BizBen.com
In the past 12 month period, March was the most active, according to BizBen, with 2,435 Californian small businesses being sold that month. November was the least active month for business buyers in California with only 1,219 small businesses being purchased.
Ventura County, Sutter County, Sierra County, Plumas County, Mendocino County, Mariposa County, Lassen County and Colusa County were amongst the least active small business markets in June. All 8 counties were the site for only one small business sale in the past month, according to BizBen.com
