Unique Pizza and Subs Names Roger Derby as Director of Operations

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 6, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Unique Pizza and Subs Corporation (Pink Sheets:UPZS) a Delaware Corporation, has filled another key staff position. Roger Derby, who has had previous experience in a Pizza and Subs restaurant in New England, has left his position in the travel industry in Maine to take on numerous responsibilities with Unique Pizza and Subs. His role as Director of Operations will include assisting in the setting up and construction of new franchises, training of CRC (Customer Response Center) personnel and general operational functions, including site evaluations for prospective new markets.

Derby is excited by the prospect of his new career path: "Leaving New England, where I have spent most of my professional career, represents a big change for me, but the opportunity to be part of a growing, publicly traded company was too good to pass up. I believe my experience in planning and operations will be useful as Unique Pizza and Subs continues its expansion nationwide." Those skills have already been put to use in the corporate offices, as well as in new Unique Pizza and Subs markets in Virginia and Massachusetts.

"Being able to add a talent like Roger Derby to our corporate team allows us to provide even stronger support to our franchisees, making it easier for them to run their operations in a profitable manner. We have already seen the benefits of his experience, and he will be invaluable in helping us open a substantial number of locations that have committed to open over the next few months," stated James Vowler, President and CEO of Unique Pizza and Subs.

In addition to Boston and Norfolk, Unique Pizza and Subs is preparing to open franchises in Austin, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Charlotte, North Carolina; Detroit, Michigan; and several additional locations in Western Pennsylvania this fall. Unique Pizza and Subs is also in advanced negotiations for: Houston, Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Diego, California; Sacramento, California; and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

About Unique Pizza and Subs Corporation, a Delaware Corporation

Since the beginning of its development stages back in 1991, Unique Pizza and Subs clearly has separated themselves from the other major pizza franchises. They needed to have more than just the best product in the industry; they needed a way to grow rapidly in any market. They noticed all the major pizza franchises were predominately located in only highly populated markets, leaving a tremendously large pizza eating population only serviced by independent pizza shops. To succeed in a smaller market, a pizza shop needs to have these key elements: a high quality and consistently made product. All of Unique Pizza and Subs' recipes were designed to have the quality of a "mom and pop" pizza shop with the consistency of a major franchise.
