DALLAS, Oct. 11, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Great American Food Chain, Inc. (Pink Sheets:GAMN), a restaurant holding company and concept developer, announced today that an area developer has opened the first franchised location of Kokopelli Fresh Mexican Grill in the Portland, Oregon marketplace. This location is the first of five restaurant units that are scheduled to open in the greater Portland metropolitan area.
Paul Roegge, Vice President of Operations was quoted as saying, "We are excited to have the first restaurant opened in the Pacific Northwest. Given the region's support for fresh healthy food, we are pleased with the opportunity this market presents and believe that the Kokopelli Fresh Mexican Grill concept will be well received." Mr. Roegge is experienced with the Pacific Northwest having opened several restaurants in the region while employed with another international restaurant franchising company.
The Great American Food Chain, Inc. (GAMN) acquired a 90% interest in Kokopelli Franchise Company, LLC in August of this year. Portland is the first of three new major markets that will be opening in the month of October. Reno, Nevada and Detroit, Michigan are scheduled to open in the middle of the month. Eight area developers have committed to opening 70 Kokopelli Fresh Mexican Grill restaurants over the next three years.
