Carl F. Walther Appointed President of Fulton Provision Company


HOUSTON, Nov. 14, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice marketer and distributor, today announced that Carl F. Walther has been named president of Fulton Provision Company, a SYSCO Corporation specialty meat subsidiary located in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Walther, who most recently served as executive vice president of that operation, will assume his duties effective immediately. He succeeds John H. Walther, who has retired following a distinguished 37-year foodservice career.

Carl Walther, 57, has served at Fulton Provision Company for 34 years. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, he attended the University of Oregon, located in Eugene, before joining the family-owned company in 1972. Mr. Walther was appointed to his current position as executive vice president in 2001 after the operation was acquired by SYSCO. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two grown sons and a grown daughter and reside in Vancouver, Washington.

John Walther, 60, joined the family-owned Fulton Provision Company in 1969 and advanced to a variety of progressively responsible sales and management positions. He was named president of the operation following SYSCO's acquisition of the business in 2001. Mr. Walther was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and attended Hartnell College (Salinas, CA). He and his wife, Marcia, reside in Bend, Oregon, and have four grown children and seven grandchildren.

Fulton Provision Company employs approximately 100 processing, sales, distribution and administrative personnel. The company supplies more than 1,000 customers throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Montana with precision-cut USDA Prime and Choice beef, cooked "ready-to-eat" products and the highest quality ground beef.
