HOUSTON, Dec. 14, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY) announced today that Michael A. Haunert has been named executive vice president at Sysco Food Services of Central Ohio, Inc., a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary located in Columbus. Mr. Haunert, who currently serves as senior vice president of sales for that operation, will assume his new role effective January 1, 2007.
Mr. Haunert, 41, began his SYSCO career in 1990 as a marketing associate for Abbott Foods, the predecessor company to Sysco Food Services of Central Ohio. He was promoted to key accounts manager for the company's program sales department in 1995 and advanced to director of program sales in 1997. Mr. Haunert was named vice president of program sales in 2000, vice president of program sales and business development in 2002, and in 2003 he was promoted to his current position. Prior to joining SYSCO he served for three years in sales and management positions in the restaurant industry.
Mr. Haunert was born and raised in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. He is a 1998 graduate of the University of Kentucky, located in Lexington, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in restaurant and institution management. He and his wife, Tara, have two sons and a daughter and reside in Dublin, Ohio.
