'Bud' Chapman Art Offered for Sale for the First Time

WACONIA, Minn., Jan. 5, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The 77 Painting Collection of Golf art created by Loyal H. (Bud) Chapman is on the market for the first time ever. The collection includes the "18 Infamous Golf Holes," plus the 19th Hole (a composite of the 18). They first appeared in Golf Digest in the 70s. The paintings have been featured in many publications since that time. The style of the paintings is realistic, but the locations, such as Victoria Falls, make the paintings surreal.

Other sets within the collection are 18 cartoons of the original 18 Infamous Holes, 3 Dream Holes, 5 Nightmare Alley Paintings, 3 Infamous Airport Holes, 10 Infamous Golf shot cartoons, 15 miscellaneous Holes, such as a moon hole, and 4 Autographed paintings. The autographed paintings, done for major events, have been signed by golf greats such as Jack Nicklaus (2 paintings), Arnold Palmer (2 paintings), Gary Player, Ben Crenshaw, Phil Mickelson, Tom Lehman, Fred Couples, Lee Janzen, Nick Price, Miller Barber, Roberto DiVincenzo, Billy Casper, Patty Berg, Annika Sorenstram, Laura Davies, Beth Daniel, Juli Inkster, Patty Sheehan, and many many others. To see the catalogue of paintings go to www.tpkgolf.com and click onto the Bud Chapman auction.

Bud Chapman, now 84, has been a scratch golfer for years. After playing with Arnold Palmer in the 2006 "Beat Your Age Tournament," Arnold wrote to Bud, "Your artwork is great, but I am even more impressed with your golf game." Bud was a B-29 bomber pilot in WWII, later a gold prospector, and a long-time artist. He finds inspiration for his artwork in his own inventive and playful mind.

Over 3 million prints of Bud Chapman's art are in circulation. They hang in clubhouses, offices, and dens around the world.

The entire 77 painting collection is being sold in its entirety in a private buyout auction. Vlad Gribovsky is the exclusive agent for this sale. Vlad is involved in the golf business internationally and is a friend of Bud's. This is an international auction, with interested participation from overseas bidders. Mr. Chapman wants the collection to be open for public viewing, even on a limited basis, during the next decade. This consideration may mitigate the final high bid.

The auction begins January 8, 2007 and ends on February 28, 2007. Go to www.tpkgolf.com to view the collection and get descriptions of each painting, read the media archive on the paintings and Bud, and get his biographical info. Bids may be placed online. For further info, call Vlad Gribovsky on his cell at 612-229-7052.

While online check out the new computer golf game featuring the "18 Infamous Holes."
