Online Software for Managing Construction Documents Upgrades Submittal Process
| Source: Construction Communicator
FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 10, 2007 -- Improvements to the online Construction
Communicator™ software (www.constructioncommunicator.com) make it easier
for architects and contractors to track submittals and resubmittals.
Construction Communicator helps owners, contractors and architects manage
contract administration documents such as submittals, Requests for
Information (RFIs), change order requests and approved changes.
Faster, Easier Submittal Process
Using convenient drop-down menus, architects and contractors can quickly
log each submittal by selecting the specification section and submittal
name from comprehensive, built-in CSI references. The online lists free the
user from the need to type in division and specification section numbers,
and submittal names, reducing errors and speeding up the process. The
specification and submittal lists can easily be customized for each
project.
Each submittal and resubmittal can be tagged with the vendor's reference or
submittal title. Electronic documents, such as catalog cut sheets and PDF
files, can be linked and tracked with each submittal.
The upgraded submittal log groups submittals by specification section
numbers, and orders them by submittal and reference numbers within each
section, making it easy to retrieve details and track status. Resubmittals
are listed in chronological order below the original submittal, providing a
complete history at a glance. The architect or consultant can indicate the
actions taken (for example, "Approved as Noted") and the date each
submittal is returned to the contractor.
The consultants view an abbreviated log that lists submittals that need a
response ahead of documents sent for information only, helping consultants
prioritize their work.
To further expedite communication, emails can alert consultants whenever a
submittal needs their attention. This provides a back-up method of
communication for consultants who might not log onto the system often.
Emails can also alert architects and contractors whenever a submittal
review is completed.
