ABILENE, Kan., Feb. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Duckwall-ALCO Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq:DUCK) announced today the promotion of two key associates. Tony Corradi has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Technology and Supply Chain Management and Virginia Meyer has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing.
Corradi joined the company in June 2005 as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. His responsibilities include strategic direction for technology advancements and day-to-day operations of the company's information technology systems. He was instrumental in the company's implementation of a major overhaul of its IT systems in all of its 189 ALCO Stores. The IT initiative was launched in December 2005 and the company recently announced the POS portion of the project was completed in all stores. Prior to joining the company Corradi served as a consultant to various retail stores including Duckwall-ALCO Stores. He started his career in technology strategy and management positions for various retail divisions of Sara Lee Corporation and ConAgra Foods.
Virginia Meyer, Marketing Director, has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing. Hired in October 2002 her responsibilities have grown steadily to encompass the overall marketing management of the company. Her responsibilities include product offerings, store promotions, website development and corporate communications. Her marketing experiences from leading retail focused companies including Cato's, Marshalls and Mervyn's has been of significant value to the company as it has repositioned over the past two years.
