Shapiro Named President and CEO of Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC


HOUSTON, Feb. 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice marketer and distributor, announced today that Keith D. Shapiro has been named president and chief executive officer of Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC. Mr. Shapiro has served most recently as president and chief executive officer of Sysco Food Services of Philadelphia, LLC and will assume his new position effective March 1, 2007, succeeding G. Kent Humphries who was promoted to senior vice president of Canadian foodservice operations.

Mr. Shapiro, 47, is a 22-year veteran of SYSCO Corporation and has worked in the foodservice industry his entire professional career. In 1985 he joined Smelkinson Sysco, now Sysco Food Services of Baltimore, LLC, as a marketing associate. He advanced through several positions at the company and transferred to SYSCO's Pittsburgh subsidiary in 1993 as vice president, territory sales. While at the Pittsburgh operation, he progressed to vice president of sales in 1994 and two years later to senior vice president. Mr. Shapiro returned to the Baltimore operation in 1997 as senior vice president and in 1999 he was named executive vice president. In 2003 Mr. Shapiro was promoted to his current position.

A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Shapiro is a graduate of George Washington University, located in Washington, D.C., where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science in 1983. He and his wife, Jennifer, have four children and will relocate to the Baltimore area in the near future.
