Tech CU Raises $4,116 at Its First Annual Community Spirit Day

Donations Will Be Given to Girls for a Change, Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) and City Team Ministries to Help Families in Need in the Bay Area

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 12, 2007 -- Technology Credit Union (Tech CU), among the top one percent of the nation's largest credit unions, held its first annual Community Spirit Day on March 6th, raising more than $4,000 in donations given by employees, members and a company match. The purpose of Tech CU's Community Spirit Day was to raise awareness among the credit union's employees, members, and the community for local nonprofits and community outreach organizations.

"This event was a great success for us," said Kathleen Litman, VP of Marketing for Tech CU. "Our goal for this day was to give people the opportunity to learn about some great organizations that are doing good work in the Bay Area and hopefully inspire a few to volunteer. We also wanted to raise money for our social partners to help support their programs in 2007. We wholeheartedly thank everyone who was involved in making this happen."

Sixteen charitable organizations and nonprofits from the Bay Area attended the community fair held at Tech CU's headquarters in San Jose, including: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children's Discovery Museum, City Team Ministries, Cupertino Community Services, Family Giving Tree, Girls for Change, Habitat for Humanity, Junior League, Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT), Second Harvest Food Bank, YWCA, Future Families, African Library Project, First Five, Hospice of the Valley and Vanished Children's Alliance.

Tech CU collected donations from members and employees at its nine branches throughout the Bay Area and from individuals who attended the fair. All of the proceeds will go to Girls for Change, Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) and City Team Ministries for programs and services that directly support children and their families in the Bay Area.

"We help thousands of teachers and caregivers in the Bay Area by providing creative, inexpensive materials and ideas for day-to-day teaching," said Paul Grossi of RAFT. "The donation we received from Tech CU will go directly to supporting those programs. By giving teachers more resources, we help our children to learn, and that means a healthier community for us all down the road."

During 2007, Tech CU will continue to sponsor an ongoing series of community service events that support financial education along with children, youth and family services in the Bay Area.
