PHILADELPHIA, April 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Still the Official Kick Off to Summer in Philadelphia, Captain Morgan's Jam on the River at Penn's Landing will again take place Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-27, on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing. Now in its 22nd year, Captain Morgan's Jam on the River features some of the most amazing, eclectic musicians including The Disco Biscuits (headlining for a fifth year in a row), Common, John Butler Trio, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector Nine), The Wailers, Dark Star Orchestra, and more. The talent lineup always has featured some local Philadelphia flavor and this year is no different with the Disco Biscuits returning and the additions of Philly breakout bands Dr. Dog and Grimace Federation. In previous years, this annual Philadelphia Festival exceeded crowds of 20,000 on the waterfront, and has become one of the biggest "jam band" festivals held inside a major city.
Gates will open at 11:30am on Saturday May 26, opening day of Captain Morgan's Jam on the River. The line up, beginning at 1pm on Saturday includes: Grimace Federation, Apollo Sunshine, Bustle in your Headrow (featuring Mark Benevento, Joe Russo, Scott Metzger and Dave Dreiwitz) Common, and the Disco Biscuits will return to jam for a fifth year to take the stage on Saturday night to close the first night of the event. Continuing this year, there will be late night shows at ELECTRIC FACTORY, just a few blocks from Penn's Landing. Saturday late night will feature STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector Nine) and Conspirator.
On Sunday May 27, the second and final day of the festival will feature: Hoots and Hellmouth, The Brakes, Dr. Dog, Dark Star Orchestra, The Wailers and John Butler Trio. STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector Nine) will headline Sunday. Sunday's after party at the Electric Factory will feature the Disco Biscuits.
