CLEVELAND, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 18, 2007 -- OverDrive, a leading provider of digital
media services, announced that its president and CEO, Steve Potash, will
present at the LexisNexis Digital Rights Management (DRM) Conference April
23-24 in Beverly Hills, California. Mr. Potash will share insights from his
20 years of experience developing, licensing and protecting copyrighted
digital media on a panel entitled "An Insider's Perspective on Digital
Rights Management of Content." Information on the conference can be found
at http://www.lexisnexis.com/conferences/.
OverDrive (www.overdrive.com) operates a global digital rights
clearinghouse that provides access to over 100,000 premium digital audio
books, eBooks, music and video, from more than 500 publishers, to its
network of 5,000 libraries worldwide.
The conference will update leaders in the entertainment industry on
real-world challenges in protecting premium artistic content in a digital
world while making it accessible and usable in a variety of popular digital
formats. This topic generates debates daily in the media and has recently
come to the forefront as Apple and EMI announced they would provide
DRM-free music through Apple's iTunes store. This highly publicized move
brings to question what the future holds for DRM in music and other media
formats including video, eBook and audio book.
"Our company encourages owners and distributors of premium digital content
to expand the reach of their music, movies, and books by utilizing
practical solutions for digital rights management," Mr. Potash said. "At
the Digital Rights Management conference, we will assure members of the
entertainment industry that they can confidently continue to provide their
content online while protecting it from piracy."
The conference, to be held at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills,
includes other notable speakers such as Dan Glickman, Chairman and Chief
Executive Office of the Motion Picture Association of America; Mitch
Singer, Chief Technology Officer, Sony Pictures Entertainment; and multiple
other leading media executives from Google, Time Warner, Walt Disney and
Paramount Pictures.
Following this event, Mr. Potash will chair "Digital Book 2007," an event
presented by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) on May 9,
2007 in New York City. Mr. Potash serves as President of the IDPF, a
non-profit trade and standards association for the digital publishing
industry. The IDPF currently includes more than 100 member organizations.
