Mars Reverses Rennet Decision -- The Stress Institute Celebrates -- Chocolate Lovers Rejoice

ATLANTA, May 21, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In an exciting turn of events, Mars shows it has a big, ethical heart with its decision to return back to its humane, vegetarian-friendly chocolate making process. Dr. Kathleen Hall, international stress expert, founder and CEO of The Stress Institute, took a personal, ethical stand against Mars via her blog, email newsletter, global network, press release, online posting to various news websites and personally-written note to the corporation's president.

"I am so very grateful to Mars for giving chocolate lovers around the world back their untainted Mars chocolates," said Dr. Hall. "We, the consumers, asked Mars to reconsider its decision on ethical and moral grounds, and its reversal exemplified to the world the great spiritual practices that are revered in all cultures and religions; humility, compassionate listening and reverent respect for others -- and for this, they have gained my respect."

Fiona Dawson, managing director of the Mars snackfood business in the UK, issued the following statement: "The consumer is our boss -- and we had lots of feedback from consumers who were unhappy about the change." Mars UK received more than 6,000 calls and emails about this issue -- the normal rate is typically 500 per week. "It became very clear, very quickly that we had made a mistake, for which I am sorry," she continued.

Dr. Hall, who personally advocates the consumption of chocolate to treat stress, will now resume her practice of wrapping up her radio show by advising her listeners to "eat three M&M's a day." Studies show that chocolate has a similar effect on the brain as marijuana, producing endorphins and combating the negative effects caused by stress.

"In a world that views giant multinationals as suspect in the dimensions of morals, ethics and greed, Mars emerges as a bright beacon of light in the shadows," concluded Dr. Hall. "Thank you for restoring our trust in your incredible brand."

Masterfoods Corporation/Mars, headquartered in McLean, VA produces Snickers, Malteasers, Galaxy, Twix, Bounty, M&M's and Dove chocolates.
