U-Wand 'Waves' Away Dry Skin With Subdermal Technology That Delivers Moisturizing Products Without Skin Damage or Discomfort
Encapsulation Systems Presents the U-Wand, an Ultrasonic Applicator Device Designed to Bring Relief to Millions of Diabetics Suffering From Skin Disorders, Dry Skin and Severe Itching

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - June 22, 2007) - ADA's 67th Annual Scientific Session, Booth
#848 -- The American Diabetes Association reports that "as many as one
third of people with diabetes will have a skin disorder at some time in
their lives" with dry skin and severe itching being ranked as one of the
most common skin disorders affecting diabetics. Now, diabetics may be able
to "wave" away the discomfort of dry skin and itching with the introduction
of the U-Wand. Encapsulation Systems Inc. (ESI), www.encsys.com, an
innovator in controlled delivery systems, announces today the introduction
of the U-Wand, a deep penetration moisturizing cream applicator device, at
the American Diabetes Association's 67th Annual Scientific Session, June
22-26th, Booth #848, at the McCormick Place Convention Center. Unlike any
other product or technology currently on the market, the U-Wand is the
first ultrasonic subdermal applicator device that allows moisturizers and
other skin care products to actually penetrate the Stratum Corneum (the
outermost layer of the skin).
"What differentiates the U-Wand subdermal technology from transdermal
technology is that our system has built-in restrictions to prevent the
transmission of cosmetics into the blood stream," said Bruce K. Redding,
Jr., President and CEO, Encapsulation Systems, based in Havertown,
Pennsylvania. "The U-Wand is a handheld ultrasonic applicator device that
can be used to apply skin care compounds topically to the surface of the
skin. The ultrasonic transmission can be used to deposit skin care
moisturizing creams and anti-wrinkle formulations to the skin."
ABOUT THE U-WAND
The U-Wand is a handheld subdermal applicator device that can be used to
apply skin care compounds topically to the surface of the skin on almost
any part of the body. Through the use of ultrasound, which "pushes"
cosmetic and medicinal compositions subdermally (just under the surface of
the skin), the
U-Wand is ideal for the treatment of wrinkles as well as skin protection
from the sun, skin relaxation and moisturizing.
HOW THE U-WAND WORKS:
There are three (3) components to the U-Wand -- Cosmetic Applicator Cap,
Transducer Coupler and Sanitary Absorbent Pads. A cosmetic cream or gel is
loaded into the replaceable Cosmetic Applicator Cap, which snaps onto the
Transducer Coupler at the end of the U-Wand. The Cosmetic Applicator Cap
is equipped with a sanitary absorbent pad, which holds 40 ml of cosmetic
cream or gel. The U-Wand is then placed on the target area slowly
massaging the skin allowing the ultrasound to push the cosmetic compound
through the skin pores, just below the outermost skin layer.
