Dominic and Delia Pangborn Co-Chair, Donate Art

DETROIT, Sept. 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Marygrove College will celebrate Founders' Day with the third annual "Have a Seat...and more!" Chair Auction and Strolling Dinner on Thursday, November 8, 2007, on its campus at 6:30 p.m.

Internationally renowned graphic designer and artist Dominic Pangborn and his wife Delia Pangborn are this year's Honorary Co-Chairs. The auction features the work of local, national and international artists, including faculty, staff, students and alumni, who have transformed vintage Marygrove chairs and other items into works of art. Non-chair items, such as paintings, gift packages, trips and "seats" for local events, will also be auctioned.

In addition to the Pangborns, contributing artists include Charles McGee, Gilda Snowden, Nora Chapa Mendoza, Adnan Charara and several others whose work appears in prestigious galleries and in the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Park West Gallery is this year's Premier Sponsor. The auction begins with a VIP reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the strolling dinner and live and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. in the Madame Cadillac Building at 8425 W. McNichols, Detroit, MI 48221.

"Have a Seat...and more!" commemorates the founding of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHMs), Marygrove's founders and sponsors, in Monroe, Michigan, in 1845, as well as the College's founding in Detroit in 1927 and its predecessor, St. Mary College in Monroe in 1905.

Seats are available at the Friend level of $500, which includes two reservations for the special 5:30-6:30 p.m. reception with the artists, dinner and auction; Premium level of $150, which includes the reception, dinner and auction; and Patron level of $100, which includes the dinner and auction.
