Greater Dallas Chamber Hosts Key Hungarian Officials to Address Dallas/Fort Worth Area Businesses

DALLAS, Oct. 11, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- A delegation of high level Hungarian officials will educate Texas businesses on how to successfully trade and invest in Hungary through a series of seminars in Houston, Austin and Dallas on October 17-19.

The purpose of this bilateral delegation is to present the business case for U.S. companies to consider Hungary as their commercial hub in the EU. Hungary is an ideal location for a commercial hub due to its EU membership which has resulted in an increased infrastructure development, improved highways, telecommunications, the electricity grid and waste management. In addition, the area has attracted nearly $10 billion in U.S. investments since 1989. Hungary is home to a well-developed financial sector and sound legal systems that have contributed to its four percent gross domestic product growth in each of the past three years. The country is also slated to receive EUR $23 billion in EU funds over the next seven years, offering outstanding opportunities for U.S. companies, either through their EU subsidiaries or though partnerships with Hungarian companies.

The Dallas "Hungarian Trade and Investment Seminar" will be held at 7:30 a.m. on October 19 at the Greater Dallas Chamber 12th Floor Conference Center located at 650 N. Pearl Street in Dallas. This complimentary breakfast seminar will feature presentations by Hungarian and U.S. ambassadors, the Hungarian Minister of Finance, the president of the Investment and Trade Development Agency of Hungary (ITD Hungary) and the director of the American Chamber of Commerce. Registration is required.

The seminar will include a panel discussion featuring members of organizations that have experience working with Hungary. U.S. companies that have established a business presence in Hungary include Exxon Mobil, EDS and GE. DFW companies specializing in chemicals, construction materials, pharmaceutical sales, food processing, motor vehicles or textiles are encouraged to attend.

The Dallas seminar is hosted by the Greater Dallas Chamber, ITD Hungary and the U.S. Department of Commerce. To register, visit www.dallaschamber.org/international. For more information, contact Jane Edson at (214) 712-1937 or jedson@dallaschamber.org.
