Police Officers Around California Honored for Heroic Acts

Seven LAPD Officers to be Recognized


LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Seven Los Angeles Police Officers will be among dozens of officers statewide who will be honored for acts of bravery and outstanding contributions to their communities at the Golden Badge Foundation Award Ceremony at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, November 2, 2007, at the Fox Studios in Los Angeles.

Police Chief Bill Bratton, Attorney General Jerry Brown and dozens of elected officials are expected at the event which will recognize and honor California law enforcement officers and civilians who have selflessly performed heroic acts and exhibited bravery above and beyond the call of duty. The organization will also recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to improving the safety and quality of life for Californians.

The award recipients truly demonstrate admirable dedication to public service and public safety. This year, the Golden Badge Foundation is humbled and honored to salute the following California law enforcement personnel and community leaders for their 2006 meritorious service to the citizens of the Golden State:

Incident One: Attempted Murder of Long Beach Police Officers and Santa Ana Police Detectives

Long Beach Police Officer Abraham Yap will receive the Police Heroism and Gold Badge of Courage Awards. Long Beach Police Officer Roy Wade will receive the Police Heroism and Gold Badge of Courage Awards. Long Beach Police Officers Samuel Riaauto and Allan Legayda will both receive the Exemplary Performance Award. Santa Ana Police Detectives John Rodriguez, Gilbert Hernandez and Jason Viramontes will each receive the Police Heroism Award.

Incident Two: Attempted Murder of Sacramento Police Officer

Sacramento Police Officer Kevin Howland will receive the Heroism Award.

Incident Three: Attempted Murder of Orange County Deputy Sheriff

Orange County Deputy Sheriff Trent Hoffman will receive the Heroism Award. Orange County Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Campbell will receive the Exemplary Performance Award.

Incident Four: Attempted Murder of San Francisco Police Officer

San Francisco Police Officers Fabian Fowler and Derrick Lew will each receive the Police Heroism Award.

Incident Five: Attempted Murder of Los Angeles Police Officer

Los Angeles Police Officer Kristina Ripatti and Police Officer Joseph Meyer will each receive the Police Heroism Award. Los Angeles Police Sergeant Robin Brown and Police Officer Ralph Ward will each receive the Exemplary Performance Award. Los Angeles Police Officers Gary Koba, Gilbert Pinel and Keith Bertonneau will each receive the Exemplary Performance Award.
