Lindora Reaches Out to Dieters Left Stranded by Pure Weight Loss Center Closures

COSTA MESA, Calif., Jan. 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- In response to Friday's closure of 400 Pure Weight Loss centers, which served thousands of dieters nationwide before filing for bankruptcy, Lindora Medical Clinics is offering discounts on services to those left stranded so that they can continue losing weight safely. Lindora, which operates 38 weight loss centers throughout Southern California as well as an online program, offers a medically supervised form of treatment that has helped thousands of patients achieve their weight loss goals safely since 1971.

Those affected by the closure of Pure Weight Loss may take advantage of either of Lindora's programs:

-- Southern California Clinic Program -- Lindora is offering up to a
$300 credit towards weight loss treatment at any of its 38
Southern California clinics as well as a 50 percent discount on
    initial exam and lab work.

-- Nationwide Online Program -- Those from other parts of the country
can enroll at no cost in Lindora's online "10 in 10" program,
which is designed to help them lose 10 percent of their starting
weight over the course of 10 weeks. In addition to the program,
participants will receive one free one-on-one nurse coaching
session and a 20 percent discount on Lindora nutritional products
(e.g., shakes, soups, energy bars, etc).

Pure Weight Loss, formerly LA Weight Loss, was in operation for 18 years. Since January is considered the high season for weight loss, the timing of the closures is particularly troublesome for those who enrolled in the program in good faith.

"We want to offer assistance to all those unfortunate people who entered into contracts with Pure Weight Loss in good faith and are now left stranded," said Cynthia Stamper Graff, president of Lindora. "We hope that those who were looking to lose weight will know that we are there for them as they face this difficult transition. We offer a number of programs, services and products that are medically based and designed to keep them lean for life."

To begin the process for transferring to the Lindora program or for more information, patients may call (800) LINDORA or visit www.lindora.com.

Graff revealed that patients may seek care at any of Lindora's 38 Southern California weight control centers or at the new Lindora Health Clinics situated in select Rite Aid stores in the cities of Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Laguna Niguel.

Cited as an authority by "The Today Show," "Good Morning America" and CNN as well as a number of nationally respected newspapers and magazines, Lindora helps 4,000 patients each day. Lindora is a member of the Partnership for Healthy Weight Management, a coalition composed of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Federal Trade Commission, Center for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health. Lindora's state-of-the-art approach to bariatrics (weight control) consists of a two-phase cognitive, behavioral program. Phase one involves weight loss, where the patient's metabolism shifts into the fat-burning state through a combination of structured eating and exercise (vitamins, minerals and protein supplements are introduced to keep patients healthy while shedding pounds). During this stage, patients learn to optimize their caloric intake and eat properly. Phase two, the eight-week "Lifetime Solutions" plan, teaches them long-term weight-maintenance skills necessary for staying lean for life. Visit www.lindora.com for more info.
