Public Voting for California's Next Anti-Smoking TV Commercial Begins

Public Will Help Decide the Grand Prize Winner of the "Be a Reel Hero" Commercial Contest


LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 4, 2008) - The California Department of Public Health, Tobacco Control Program is asking the public to help select the winning TV commercial in the "Be a Reel Hero" contest. The public is encouraged to help select the winning commercial by viewing the finalists on www.BeAReelHero.com and voting for their favorite ads. Public voting began on February 1 and will end on February 22.

The public will act as one part of the five part judging panel for the contest. The other four judges will come from the entertainment, advertising, government and public health sectors. The winning commercial will air on California television as part of the state's anti-smoking campaign.

The "Be a Reel Hero" contest invited all creative Californians to use their talent to save lives by producing a compelling 30-second television commercial that communicates California's anti-smoking message. The winning commercial will join the ranks of other groundbreaking advertising produced by California's anti-smoking program.
