WheelTug Announces Patent Issuance

NORTH PLAINS, OR--(Marketwire - February 7, 2008) - WheelTug Limited is pleased to announce that the US Patent and Trademark Office has granted another in a long line of motor patents that ensure exclusive rights to the WheelTug® system for moving aircraft on the ground.

US Patent 7,327,105 joins thirteen other patents already issued in the United States, with corresponding international coverage to ensure that the Chorus Motor and WheelTug technologies are well protected.

The next stage in WheelTug development was formally launched on 11 December 2007, with the addition of Daniel Barbalata as Program Manager of a team that already includes Newport Aeronautical and Gil Thompson for certification, as well as Chorus Motors' existing design team.

"Every patent that issues reinforces our intellectual property advantage over any potential competitor," says Stuart Harbron, WheelTug's Chief Patent Officer. "Many more patent applications are pending, covering multiple aspects of the WheelTug system."

Among the potential benefits of the WheelTug system are reduced fuel consumption, noise and emissions, shorter aircraft turnaround times between flights and a reduction in flight delays. The congested nature of many international airports also means that eliminating the frequent use of tugs to haul aircraft could also make a positive impact on airside safety.

Patent 7,327,105 is for a variable impedance motor, capable of using different harmonic contents to minimize the size and weight of both the motor and the power electronics. WheelTug has the worldwide exclusive rights to use all patents generated by itself or its parent companies for moving aircraft on the ground.

WheelTug and Delta Air Lines entered into an agreement in 2007 in which the airline is assisting WheelTug in developing the system and being the launch customer for the 737NG WheelTug worldwide, with the right to acquire WheelTugs for its own 737NG fleet. The agreement also gives Delta the right of first refusal to provide installation and maintenance services on WheelTug systems in the United States for itself and for other airlines that desire such services. Delta has also taken an option to buy up to 600,000 shares of WheelTug plc at an average price of $36 per share.

Isaiah Cox has also been featured in an interview with WallSt.net. The interview discussed the WheelTug system, and its significance for aircraft, airlines, and airports. During the interview, Isaiah Cox said that interested parties should keep an eye on WheelTug, as the economic and environmental impact of the WheelTug system on legacy aircraft like the 737NG cannot be matched by any other available technology.
