Devicescape Connect Service Helps Operators Build Their Wi-Fi Businesses

Operators Can Now Offer a True "Out-of-the-Box" Wi-Fi Solution to Increase Utilization, Decrease Costs and Load-Balance Traffic

SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - February 12, 2008) - Devicescape Software today announced the launch of its Devicescape Connect Service for operators. The new service seamlessly and automatically connects subscribers' Wi-Fi devices to any operator's and their roaming partners' Wi-Fi networks. Using Devicescape's auto-connect solution, operators can provide seamless integration of cellular and Wi-Fi services, increase the number of users and number of sessions, bring new types of devices onto their networks and reduce support costs.

The Devicescape Connect Service simplifies a multi-step, sometimes challenging consumer process. By making access to networks seamless, more consumers will be able to use Wi-Fi for mobile access, in more sessions, driving revenue potential for operators and their roaming partners. Additionally, as connections are unattended by the consumer, the Devicescape Connect Service allows operators to balance their traffic between expensive and overburdened cellular networks onto fast and inexpensive Wi-Fi.

"Finally there is a unified way to connect any device to any network. By offering a simple one-step solution to Wi-Fi integration, Devicescape enables consumers to more readily enjoy their favorite mobile internet applications like email, media, music and maps. For operators, Devicescape increases the value of their Wi-Fi asset," said Dave Fraser, CEO of Devicescape.

The Devicescape Connect Service is easy to deploy. Setting up automated access for users involves installing Devicescape and pre-configuring each device with a unique ID. The operator can customize networks access, including access to roaming partners, for each device based on device type, subscription plan or other criteria. Once set up, devices can instantly access the appointed coverage enabling a great service experience for the subscriber.

A Devicescape SDK is available for full integration into handsets and other devices. Nokia makes Devicescape available via the Nokia Download! application on the Nokia N95 and in the Nokia Tableteer Folder for Nokia Internet Tablet owners. Distributable clients are also available today for Nokia devices, Apple iPhone and iPod touch, Mac OSX, Windows XP and Vista laptops, and Windows Mobile Smartphones, with many more planned.

The Devicescape service works on over 1000 different networks around the world including major paid carriers, municipal and metro nets, University and other free networks.

Devicescape also announced today a deal with Deutsche Telekom, the leading Wi-Fi provider in Germany and Europe. By partnering with Devicescape, T-Home and T-Mobile users will have automatic wireless access whenever they are within range of a T-Mobile HotSpot.
