Former SpeechWorks VP to Manage New Customer Integration and Support User Growth

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - February 19, 2008) - Vlingo Corporation today announced that Charlie Rutledge has joined the company as vice president of operations and customer services. As vlingo rolls out its voice-powered user interface for mobile phones, Rutledge will manage and grow operational support to ensure scale and reliability. He will also build out processes to ensure fast and effective customer implementations as developers and carriers work to optimize their mobile applications for speech.

"Charlie knows this industry inside and out -- and he knows what it takes to build a scalable operation to support fast growth into the consumer market," said Dave Grannan, vlingo's CEO. "We're looking forward to leveraging his expertise at a very exciting point in vlingo's evolution as we prepare to introduce our voice-powered interface to consumers."

Rutledge brings deep speech recognition expertise from his role at SpeechWorks International (now Nuance) as vice president of professional services where he led the professional services and sales engineering organizations. There, Rutledge grew professional services revenues six fold over five years and grew the team from 15 people to more than 120 across 12 offices worldwide. Prior to SpeechWorks, Rutledge was a senior manager at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in its Financial Services practice. He also held various engineering, analysis and marketing positions with Intel Corporation, Exxon Chemical Americas and Marathon Oil.

"Vlingo's approach to the mobile speech recognition market is truly remarkable, and promises to open up access to information on mobile handsets in a way we've never seen," said Rutledge. "It's an exciting time to join vlingo on the cusp of a consumer introduction and I'm honored to be part of the team."

Rutledge earned an SM in Management from the Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in applied science from Miami University. He currently resides in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
