New eBook, "There Is No Secret Sauce," Teaches Best Practices for Social Media Involvement by Companies

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - Social media strategist Adam Metz has released an eBook, "There Is No Secret Sauce." The book is currently available for sale on MetzMash, a social media strategy blog, and will be available in printed and downloadable format on Amazon.com later this year. Metz works for San Francisco public relations firm LaunchSquad, where he advises emerging technology companies on social media strategies.

The book provides an easily digestible guide to navigating social media and discusses the steps needed for readers to get their companies more involved. Some of the sections include "10 Super-Stupid Social Media Mistakes," "How To Bring Social Media To Your Team," and "Do We Need a Social Media Crisis Plan?"

"Adam Metz has written a must-read guide for anyone looking to bring social media into their organization. Not only does he provide a strategic context for the social media imperative, but provides fantastic and tactical ideas for how to move things forward within any company," said Gina Bianchini, CEO of social media platform company Ning.

"I think Adam's eBook is very timely. More and more companies want 'some of that social media,' they just don't know why or how. This leaves many a marketing manager left to try and figure it out," said Tac Anderson, Global Web 2.0 Strategic Lead for HP's LaserJet business unit.

Most existing social media texts discuss top-down deployment of social media within an organization; "There Is No Secret Sauce" preaches the organic growth of social media within the organization, starting in the marketing, PR or information technology departments, and teaches the individuals within the departments how to sell the value of social media to their teams.

"It's an essential read, especially for social media newbies," blogger and Gnomedex conference founder Chris Pirillo said. "I'm pointing all my potential sponsors to 'There Is No Secret Sauce' now, because it helps them get what's going on beyond the classic 'banner' or newer 'text link' advertising models."

Metz plans to add sections addressing the needs of social media in the public sector and the emergent best practices of social media in non-profit organizations.

"This book hits the nail on the head -- the perfect primer for any company thinking about its' foray into the social media space," Rob Crumpler, CEO of influence detection software company BuzzLogic said. "This is a great resource for marketers and communication professionals as they travel the path from information gathering to real engagement."
