Verimatrix Content Security Strengthens Comverse's IPTV Solution

STA of Andorra Benefits From Cost-Effective and Easy VCAS for IPTV Deployment for Triple Play Services

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 14, 2008) - NAB2008 -- Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, today announced that it has integrated the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for IPTV into the Comverse IPTV solution. Andorran Telecommunications Service (STA) is the first operator to deploy the fully integrated Verimatrix-Comverse IPTV solution to expand its triple play services offering into television.

STA, provider of fixed, mobile, data and value-added telecommunication services in the Principality of Andorra, will be delivering live broadcast and on-demand IPTV over its new fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network. Comverse, the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communication and billing services, is an OEM partner for Verimatrix's content security solutions and the system integrator for the STA project.

"Vermatrix's leadership in IPTV content protection made them an obvious choice for our platform," said Benny Einhorn, president of Comverse EMEA. "They understand the security requirements in the global market and have experience with all types of network configurations. STA is a great example of how easily and cost-effectively VCAS met all of their needs."

VCAS for IPTV leverages the two-way IP infrastructure in STA's network by providing a more sophisticated level of content security than traditional smartcard-based systems. Cryptographic and e-commerce technologies proven on the Internet, including PKI and X.509 certificates, enable VCAS to secure content and enhance revenue streams, while successfully combating digital piracy wherever it may occur within the distribution chain.

"STA is a prestigious customer win in the region because it illustrates our flexibility of deployment and showcases our strong partner ecosystem with Comverse," said Robert Payne, VP of EMEA. "Our customers and partners are realizing that our content security solutions are key to enabling new business delivery models."
