Naval Flight Officer Plans to Surrender on July 4th -- Cross-Country Romance Culminates in Marriage at Five Crowns

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 3, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- On the evening of July 4th, while the rest of the country celebrates our nation's independence, Courtney Godett, age 27, and Naval Flight Officer Scott Mehaffey, age 28, will surrender a measure of personal freedom as they celebrate their wedding in one of Southern California's historical locations. Five Crowns, a "jewel in the crown" of upscale Lawry's Restaurants, Inc., adds to the dichotomy: The building has been noted in guidebooks and historical papers as a landmark -- the most authentic replica of an English country inn in North America.

The soon-to-be-wed pair met in January 2006, when Scott was in training at the Navy base in Pensacola, Florida. Courtney, a California native, had signed up for E-Harmony, primarily to encourage her sister to give it a try. Because Courtney wasn't taking the experience too seriously, she set her parameters wide, offering to chat with anyone in the world. Scott and Courtney crossed the country regularly as their relationship developed. Scott is currently deployed oversees as a Naval Flight Officer. Courtney works in the travel industry in Los Angeles.

The pair became engaged on Christmas Day 2007, and they have been planning their upcoming July 4th wedding by e-mail. Approximately 150 guests are expected for the night-time wedding. Courtney has picked out a pretty dress of white-on-white organza with a sweetheart neckline. Scott will wear his Navy "dress-whites."

Following the wedding ceremony, a 5 p.m. cocktail reception will take place at the restaurant, located three blocks from the beach. Bridal party photos will be taken with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop before guests enjoy dinner. Then the fun will begin, and they plan to dance the night away.
