Virtual Radiologic Announces Technology Licensing Partnership With Radiology Department At Massachusetts General Hospital

Agreement Allows New England's Largest Hospital to Enhance Teleradiology Program

MINNEAPOLIS, June 10, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Virtual Radiologic Corp. (Nasdaq:VRAD), a leading national provider of teleradiology services, today announced a multi-year technology licensing partnership with Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO), partner of the Massachusetts General Hospital and teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

"After an exhaustive search for a teleradiology platform, we found the innovative technology and services that Virtual Radiologic can provide our radiologists to be the best solution available," said John Landry, Director of Teleradiology and Business Technology for MGPO. "We are excited about combining the significant academic and clinical knowledge of our highly trained physicians with the deep, feature-rich technology platform provided by Virtual Radiologic. In addition, MGPO and Virtual Radiologic both share the belief that teleradiology programs should complement and supplement understaffed local radiology practices, rather than competing with them. These common values are the backbone of this partnership."

Under the terms of the agreement, Virtual Radiologic will license vRad(sm) Enterprise Connect, Virtual Radiologic's teleradiology platform, to MGPO for use in its teleradiology program. Included in the agreement will be access to Virtual Radiologic's 24-hour Operations Center and workflow management services to ensure seamless communications between MGPO radiologists and the medical facilities that they serve.

vRad(sm) Enterprise Connect is Virtual Radiologic's proprietary Web-based workflow platform that interfaces with a facility's existing RIS and PACS systems. It requires no infrastructure or data center investments and enables academic medical centers and radiology groups to extend their services beyond traditional practice boundaries. It is the same teleradiology platform used by Virtual Radiologic's more than 115 affiliated practicing radiologists serving 13 percent of hospitals in the United States.

Said Rick Jennings, Virtual Radiologic's Chief Technology Officer, "We have spent the last five years developing the technology and Operations Center services at the core of vRad(sm) Enterprise Connect for one reason -- to improve the productivity of radiologists. We are delighted to announce that MGPO's Department of Radiology is leveraging Virtual Radiologic's teleradiology infrastructure to significantly enhance its teleradiology program."
