Local Humanitarian Named 98th President of Rotary Club 13

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - A man known among Kansas Citians for his integrity and humanitarianism was named the 98th president of Rotary Club 13, the Downtown Kansas City Rotary Club. Myron Sildon, chairman of Sildon Law Group, intends to establish a new network of young professionals to reignite the club's membership, while providing continued opportunities and retention for existing members. His inauguration was held June 26, 2008, at the Downtown Public Library.

Sildon's overarching vision will be to create a foundation of young persons who will be the life blood of their organization and have an impact on Kansas City causes for future business leaders. "It's imperative that young men and women become leaders in this community," said Sildon. "The earlier that they can get started in service, the more impactful they will be in this community and within their career."

This program will include a new outreach session called "Profiles in Leadership" and will feature prominent leaders who will share their stories among community members. Upcoming speakers include Terry Dunn of JE Dunn, former Mayor Richard Berkley and John Bluford, CEO of Truman Medical Center.

Sildon will also emphasize the Rotary's international service objectives of global humanitarian causes, including helping under-developed countries find clean water sources, continuing to eradicate polio in the four countries where it still exists and starting a program locally to reduce infant mortality.

Rotary 13 has approximately 400 members and focuses on international service and community involvement. Rotary's keystone project is the Rotary Youth Camp that provides a free camping experience to more than 3,000 economically and physically disadvantaged children each year.

Sildon Law Group is a center for business strategies in the areas of tax law, business succession, qualified plans, corporations, real estate and estate planning. Sildon Law Group has been in operation for 31 years.
