Blue Ridge Lumber Chooses Clean Diesel Technologies' Platinum Plus Fuel-Borne Catalyst to Reduce Emissions and Environmental Impact and Improve Fuel Economy

STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 17, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:CDTI) (XETRA:CDIA) (LSE:CDT), the cleantech emissions reduction company, and Fishersville, Virginia-based Blue Ridge Lumber Company, LLC today announced the implementation of Clean Diesel's Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalyst throughout Blue Ridge's trucking fleet.

A successful four-month on-road test of Clean Diesel's Platinum Plus demonstrated a significant reduction in visible particulate matter emissions, and a measured reduction of 12.7% in both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) greenhouse gas emissions from the Blue Ridge line-haul trucking routes. At the conclusion of the test program, Blue Ridge made the decision to use Platinum Plus fleet-wide.

Thomas G. Sheets, General Manager of Blue Ridge Lumber, said, "As a natural renewable resources company, we are keenly aware of the need for a healthier environment. The combination of fuel savings and environmental benefits Clean Diesel delivers made the decision to deploy their solution throughout our fleet very appealing." Sheets added, "As a multi-generational company with deep roots in Virginia, this deployment means more than common-sense business. It has a direct effect on the health and well-being of the communities in which we live and work."

As a regional business with worldwide markets, Blue Ridge Lumber adopted the Platinum Plus fuel-borne catalyst to secure a strategic advantage through reduced transportation costs, to create and maintain a healthy environment for employees, and to do their part in mitigating global climate change due to carbon emissions.

Dr. Bernhard Steiner, Chief Executive Officer of Clean Diesel said, "We are pleased that the success of our technology in the Blue Ridge fleet enables them to serve as an industry-leading example. Rising fuel costs disproportionately impact industries dependent on transportation, especially those with high fuel consumption such as businesses that routinely ship goods across the country. Clean Diesel's combined benefits of emissions reduction and energy efficiency give a truly sustainable advantage with improved economics and cleaner air. Blue Ridge's progressive approach to protecting the environment -- while directly benefiting their business -- is an example for the entire lumber industry."
