College FilterForGood Eco-Challenge Empowers College Students to Improve Their Campuses

Five Students Will Each Receive a $10,000 Grant to Implement Campus Sustainability Programs

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwire - September 18, 2008) - Do you have an idea to change the world? Now's your chance! The Brita Products Company is challenging college students nationwide to put their environmental passion into action and develop programs to green their campuses.

The College FilterForGood Eco-Challenge aims to empower eco-conscious students to create projects that improve the environment on their campuses. Five college students will be chosen to each receive a $10,000 grant to bring their ideas to life. Proposals will be evaluated on creativity, environmental benefit, educational impact and best use of time and budget. Applications can be submitted by individual students on their own or as a part of a club or class.

"Making small changes can make a big difference toward a better environment. That's why Brita partnered with Nalgene to create the FilterForGood campaign, challenging others to go green by filling a reusable bottle with filtered tap water rather than using bottled water. Now, the challenge is for college students to share their best ideas toward a more sustainable world, starting with their campuses," said Josh Dorfman, author of "The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living."

Since FilterForGood was launched in August 2007, more than 85,000 people have pledged to reduce their bottled water waste, which has kept an estimated nearly 100 million disposable water bottles from ending up in landfills.
