Travel Fairy Godmother Sends Needy Kids to San Diego and Benedictine Nun to Ireland to Fulfill Dreams

BOSTON, Sept. 26, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Travel Fairy Godmother Stephanie Abrams, travel expert host of nationally syndicated radio shows, sent 12 needy children to San Diego and an 81 year old Benedictine Nun to Ireland this summer. Abrams' mission includes introducing children and adults to places to inspire, enrich, uplift and enhance their lives.

Kathy Jarvis brought Sister Catherine to Abrams' attention. Jarvis' father was raised by the Benedictines in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Jarvis wanted to fulfill Sister Catherine's lifelong wish to visit Ireland to repay her father's debt of gratitude to the Benedictines.

Their car and driver from Dooley Car Rental took them to the Cliffs of Moher. They stayed at Galway Bay Hotel with excursions to Kylemore Abbey and Cong. Pat Lavelle, Director of Knock Shrine, drove them to Knock. "I flew to Shannon to meet them in Knock to be their guide!" Abrams states.

Visits included Trinity College's Book of Kells and historic library in Dublin, Clonmacnoise, Glendalough, Dalkey Castle, Powers Court Falls, the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross, the Waterford Crystal Factory, the Ring of Kerry, Foynes Flying Boat Museum, Blarney Castle, and farewell dinner at Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis, once a convent, with its owner, John Madden. Overnight stays included the 18th century Fitzpatrick Castle in Co. Dublin, Cork Imperial Hotel, and the Carrygerry Country House nestled in the countryside within 5 minutes' drive from Shannon Airport in Newmarket-on-Fergus.

Sister Catherine said she'd like to spend more time at Trinity College's library. There's always next year!" Abrams states.

"Sister Catherine and Jarvis are featured on the September 27, 2008 broadcast of Traveling Feet which broadcasts nationally on radio, streams live at www.sabrams.com in the 11am to 1pm ET time slot, and is permanently archived at the site. A list of radio markets in which the show is heard can be found by clicking on Broadcast Info in the site's navigation bar. Sister Catherine also appeared on 'Travel with Stephanie Abrams' which aired live from Fitzpatrick Castle on September 14, 2008." Click here to listen to the show and here to view the shownotes.

In August, Abrams sent twelve children from the Giving Tree Outreach Program, which rescues homeless and assists needy children, to San Diego. Abrams chose the Hilton Gardens Inn San Diego Del Mar for the group because of its location, spacious accommodations and their Managing Partner, Bob Rauch, a/k/a Travel Guru, would take good care of them." Abrams provided admissions to Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and a sail with Hornblower Cruises for the children.

"One child said his dream to see the ocean meet the sky was fulfilled in San Diego. Children need to experience places that inspire them to establish goals and aspirations," Abrams concludes.
