New Webinar Series Explores Role of PIM in Integrated Project Delivery

Newforma(R) to Share How Customers Apply Project Information Management to Support IPD Best Practices

MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwire - October 1, 2008) - Newforma® Inc., a software company addressing the project information management (PIM) needs of the design and building industry, today announced a new series of webinars that will examine how PIM software supports the collaborative processes required for more effective integrated project delivery (IPD). Drawing from Newforma's experience helping 21,000 users manage the information and communications for over 80,000 projects, the series will highlight areas where PIM software contributes to the DNA of a firm working toward a more integrated practice.

Newforma Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell, who will be leading the series, believes that there is more to achieving IPD than the adoption of BIM alone. "Integrated project delivery certainly requires the use of new technologies like BIM to coordinate and document the design of a project," said Howell. "But IPD also requires software to manage all of the related unstructured project communications, like project emails and file transfers, and adjunct decision-making processes such as submittals, RFIs and transmittals, that surround the model as it is defined and refined throughout the project. PIM software is specifically designed to organize project information, manage communications and streamline process in a way that supports both inter-firm, external team collaboration as well as intra-firm, internal project processes."

The series of webinars, entitled "PIM and the DNA of Integrated Project Delivery," will explore the following six topics:

-- Email management - as an integral part of project process and project
    record
-- For knowledge mining, reuse, or recall - the value of full-text search
-- Who dropped the ball? - reinforcing accountability through visibility
-- Trust, but verify - logging and tracking in a paperless world
-- Plan versus reality - creating a unified view of project performance
    metrics
-- How did we get here? - capturing real-time BIM design collaboration

Each webinar topic will include case study material drawn by permission from Newforma's growing base of customers in North America, the United Kingdom, Australia/New Zealand, and the Middle East. A demonstration of the related areas of Newforma's industry-leading PIM solution, Newforma Project Center, will be offered following the close of each presentation and Q&A session.
