ACWA Presents Emissary Award to Jess Senecal

Award Recognizes Longtime Water Attorney for Commitment to Association

LONG BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - December 3, 2008) - The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) today presented its third annual Emissary Award to Jess Senecal, a longtime water attorney whose involvement with the association spans more than 30 years. The award recognizes individuals for remarkable contributions to California water by supporting and advancing ACWA's goals.

"ACWA's Emissary Award is our way of paying tribute to the members who have guided this association and contributed to our successes over the years. Jess Senecal is a prime example of a member whose involvement has made a tremendous difference," ACWA President Glen Peterson said. "We owe a debt of gratitude to Jess for his years of leadership and his unwavering support for ACWA and its interests."

Senecal, a senior partner with the firm Lagerlof, Senecal, Bradley, Grosney & Kruse, served as chair of ACWA's State Legislative Committee from 1970 to 2007. He testified numerous times on key legislative proposals on ACWA's behalf, and spent countless hours over the years crafting amendments to make legislation consistent with ACWA's interests.

He also drafted scores of legislative proposals for ACWA's sponsorship, and was a major contributor to the drafting of ACWA's model ethics policy for public officials. Senecal served on the ACWA Legal Affairs Committee and several terms on the ACWA Board of Directors.

ACWA is a statewide association of public agencies whose 450 members are responsible for about 90% of the water delivered in California. For more information, visit www.acwa.com.
