BOCA RATON, Fla., Dec. 29, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On December 24, 2008, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico against Emcore Corporation ("Emcore" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:EMKR). The complaint alleges violations of federal securities laws, Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5, including allegations that Emcore issued a series of material misrepresentations to the market that artificially inflated the market price. The class period is from June 12, 2007 through March 17, 2008 (the "Class Period").

Plaintiff seeks to recover damages on behalf of the Class.
