Westview Services, Inc.'s Volunteer Program Helps Non-Profits Deal With Holiday Season and Tough Economic Times

Helps Disabled People Contribute to Their Community by Providing Volunteer Opportunities at Local Non-Profit Organizations

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - December 31, 2008) - Westview Services, Inc.'s volunteer program takes on a special meaning during the holidays. With the current state of the economy, non-profits are finding their resources dwindling, while the need for their services increasing. The consumers of Westview Services help take some of the stress of limited resources off non-profits like the Food Bank and American Family Housing by volunteering at these organizations, tackling everyday tasks like helping serve dinners for the needy, or keeping parks and recreation areas clean.

Westview Services' volunteer program trains disabled people to perform the tasks needed by these non-profits, working with organizations around Los Angeles to place volunteers throughout the community. "The agencies truly appreciate our volunteers, since they help provide services to the community and free staff to concentrate on other tasks," said Gregg Gann, CEO of Westview Services. The volunteer program has been serving the community for many years, with some organizations like the Stanly Museum in Garden Grove benefiting from this program for more than a decade.

While organizations like the Boys and Girls Club and the Anaheim Central Library enjoy the benefits of having the volunteers at their facilities, it is the volunteers themselves who reap the rewards of their work. "When our consumers volunteer, they feel like they have a purpose -- they really enjoy helping the community," stated Gann. "They look forward to going to work. It's a way to connect with the community through their service. In the end, both the organizations and the volunteers win."
