"Bright Side of Government" Viral Video Campaign to Showcase State and Local Government "Stars"

Online Destination to Share Technology Success Stories in Challenging Times

REDMOND, WA--(Marketwire - February 10, 2009) - Microsoft Corp., in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACO), Public Technology Institute (PTI) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) has launched the "Bright Side of Government," a viral video campaign to showcase technology success stories in the state and local government sector.

Government IT professionals are invited to create and upload success stories highlighting how they are saving money and time while delivering effective technology solutions for their respective agencies.

"Most state and local government sectors are facing tough economic times right now, and IT professionals need to accomplish more with less," said Gail Thomas-Flynn, General Manager of State and Local Government for Microsoft. "The 'Bright Side of Government' allows state and local government IT leaders to share the great things they are accomplishing in this down economy."

In the coming months, Microsoft will be ranking all of the videos based on popularity and the winner will receive promotional opportunities with NACO, PTI and the ICMA.
