Hygenall Introduces Hand Wipes to Reduce Risk of Lead Exposure Commonly Found on Children's Toys and Household Items

New Technology Developed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Removes 98 Percent of Lead From Skin

NEWINGTON, NH--(Marketwire - February 10, 2009) - Hygenall Safety Products, a division of Mk-IX Technologies Corporation, today announced the availability of Hygenall™ hand wipes. Leveraging a license for science developed in the laboratories of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Hygenall is a breakthrough hand wipe that safely removes 98 percent of trace lead particles as well as dirt and common germs associated with children's toys, clothing, paint and other common surfaces, from the hands. Compared to common soap and alcohol-based hand sanitizers -- which cannot remove lead -- Hygenall offers a much higher level of protection and prevention. Hygenall is currently being sold via www.hygenall.com and amazon.com.

Hygenall wipes are offered in a 20-count canister for $6.99 MSRP. Each seven inch by nine inch wipe is primarily used on the hands, where agents safely grab and remove the heavy metal ions -- such as lead -- from the skin. The process is completed by rinsing the hands after use.

Mark Boeniger, co-developer of the technology behind Hygenall and a retired Centers for Disease Control and Prevention scientist, underscores the hidden danger of lead in our everyday lives: "Lead is more persistent in our daily lives than we realize. That makes it particularly dangerous because very small quantities each day -- that you cannot see -- get into the body and accumulate over time. Over the course of time, lead builds up and becomes toxic."

In calendar year 2000, the United States adopted the goal of reducing all exposures to lead and eliminating elevated blood lead levels in children by 2010. However, efforts by the U.S. Government, such as senator, now President Barack Obama's July 18, 2007 bill entitled Lead Poisoning Reduction Act of 2007 in addition to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act's (CPSIA) stringent requirements to reduce lead contained in children's products, may not fully assure protection. Therefore, individuals need to take personal steps in order to protect themselves against lead exposure.

"Although the government has put forth good-faith legislation to help reduce the levels of lead we will be exposed to in the future -- the immediate need is to address lead that is currently in our personal environments and affecting our children," said Michael McKinnon, Mk-IX founder and CEO. "We are safely addressing this need by commercializing government-developed technology and making it readily available for any consumer."
