SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2009) - MuleSource, the leading provider of
open source service oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure
software, today announced the appointment of Greg Schott as chief
executive officer. Schott brings more than 20 years of technology
management experience to MuleSource, most recently serving as senior vice
president of marketing of open source Java infrastructure software provider
SpringSource.
"MuleSource has established itself as the clear leader in the open source
integration, ESB and SOA governance
categories," said Schott. "I am impressed by the company's winning
combination of world-class technology, loyal user community and customer
success. I'm eager to work with the strong MuleSource team to capitalize
on those assets and to lead the company in its next phase of rapid growth."
Throughout his career, Schott has helped to grow companies from the early
stages through IPO and beyond. As CEO of MuleSource, he will guide the
company's long-term business strategy and accelerated growth as a leader
and innovator in infrastructure software.
"In addition to deep operational experience, Greg brings an unmatched
understanding of the nuances of the open source business model," said Ross
Mason, creator of the Mule project and CTO and co-founder of MuleSource.
"In these difficult economic times, MuleSource is uniquely poised to
provide customers with more value at a lower cost. Coming off of a
tremendous 2008, we see 2009 as another banner year for us with Greg as the
key player at the helm."
Prior to his experience at SpringSource, Schott served as senior vice
president of marketing and vice president of corporate development at Agile
Software (acquired by Oracle). He also served as vice president of
marketing and vice president of operations at DG Systems, where he helped
lead the company from a startup to a profitable public company. Previously,
Schott held management positions at The Boston Consulting Group and
Westinghouse, and served on the public company boards of Sonus and
VerticalNet.
"Greg has a proven track record of driving growth," said Ann Winblad, a
MuleSource director as well as co-founder and Managing Director of Hummer
Winblad Venture Partners. "With well over 2000 identified enterprise
