Xandros Presto Powers-Up Laptops in Seconds

PALM DESERT, CA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2009) - DEMO 2009 -- Xandros today announced Xandros Presto™, a full-featured 'instant on' solution to power up laptops within seconds. Presto is a downloadable software-only utility that doesn't require special chipsets to quickly boot new and existing laptops and PCs. Presto allows on-the-fly computing to check email, browse the web, chat with friends, make Skype calls, create documents, download media, apps and games, or enjoy music, videos, and movies even if stored in the laptop's Windows folders, without waiting for Windows to boot. Presto is compatible with most Windows Vista or XP laptops and desktops.

The OEM version is available immediately. A consumer download for $19.95 and a free trial version will be made available to the public on April 13, 2009 at www.prestomypc.com (a beta version will be available on March 16). In order to build Presto, Xandros employed the technical expertise gained in creating the platform for the ASUS Eee PC, a product that powers up in seconds rather than minutes.

Unique Presto features include an online Presto AppStore to access additional software, games, multimedia and web applications. Presto comes as an easy Windows install. Best-of-breed applications include a full-featured office suite that lets users create and edit Microsoft Office documents, and save them to folders on their Windows drives. Presto connects to networks over WiFi, 3G, xDSL, LAN and cable. Additionally, Xandros Presto includes a 14-day free trial of Real Player SuperPass to watch TV online and listen to thousands of radio stations worldwide. The full SuperPass package comes with full-length movies, and monthly downloads of 10 songs, as well as one game.
