John (Jack) Farady Joins Electric Insurance Company Board of Directors

New Director Will Provide Strong Financial, Enterprise Risk Management, and Industry Expertise


BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwire - March 16, 2009) - Electric Insurance Company, a national, leading provider of personal and commercial lines insurance products, announced today the election of John (Jack) Farady to the company's Board of Directors and appointment to the Audit Committee. As independent director and audit committee member, Farady will help provide oversight of the company's financial reporting and enterprise risk management.

After a distinguished, 27 year career with John Hancock Financial Services, most recently as Senior Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions, Jack retired in 2004 following the merger of John Hancock and Manulife Financial.

Prior to his mergers and acquisition role, Farady held the position of Senior Vice President & Treasurer. Here he was instrumental in managing treasury operations, including banking relations and operations, securities custody and investments management. Farady was also responsible for the development and implementation of financial and asset management strategies at John Hancock, including borrowing, leverage, and risk-based capital strategies as well as capital planning and budgeting, rating agency relations, and risk management.

Farady has a BA in Mathematics from Boston College and an MBA and JD from Northeastern University. He also served a distinguished career in the United States Navy.
