Ensim Releases Upgrade to Ensim Unify Enterprise Edition

Version 2.7 Promises to Boost IT Productivity Through Reduced Manual Processes, Improved Distribution Group Management and Support for Cloud Computing

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2009) - Ensim Corporation, the leading provider of change management, user provisioning and access control software, today announced the immediate availability of Ensim Unify Enterprise Edition, Version 2.7. The latest upgrade offers new functionality aimed at proactively enforcing compliance policies and improving IT efficiency by eliminating manual processes and providing stricter security for mobile devices and distribution group management.

Ensim's award-winning suite of access management and provisioning tools include support for Active Directory (AD), MS Exchange, BlackBerry®, Windows Mobile, Office Communications Server (OCS), and more. Version 2.7 enables organizations to more easily meet compliance directives through enforced standardization, as well as plug security holes, such as misconfiguration of security groups and improper passwords, by eliminating reliance on manual processes or scripts.

According to Scott Crawford, Research Director at Enterprise Management Associates, "As vital a component as Active Directory has become to IT policy administration, the risk of making a mistake using manual processes or scripts is great, to say the least. With tools that implement IT policies and automate their execution, like Ensim Unify, the risk of unauthorized AD manipulation that could directly threaten critical information resources is significantly reduced. This not only makes for a more streamlined directory, but guarantees a considerable reduction in potential security issues that can result from orphaned AD accounts and incomplete de-provisioning processes."

In addition to securing AD, Enterprise 2.7 adds capabilities designed to cut overhead costs through self-service. "Distribution groups are a critical communications tool for a growing number of organizations, but the creation, management and deletion of these groups can be difficult and expensive to administer," said Scott Young, vice president of marketing and product management at Ensim Corporation. "Implementing Ensim Unify can remove this burden by standardizing the provisioning process across all systems and allowing end users to self service, without worrying about misconfiguration."

Key features of the Version 2.7 release include:

Improved Distribution Group Management - provides administrators with the ability to configure pre-defined prefixes for name, display name and SMTP addresses and automatically applies these naming conventions to standardize the provisioning of distribution groups across the system, while allowing for full web enabled end-user self service.

Support for Cloud Computing Initiatives - allows organizations to manage and provision both on-premise Microsoft infrastructure, such as Active Directory and MS Exchange, with cloud computing capabilities, such as Google Apps -- all from a single web-based administration console.

Organization-wide Security Policies for Mobile Devices - allows the administrator to secure mobile devices by administering organization-wide device security policies for individuals or groups of users. These security policies can be used to configure various security settings including:

-- Password complexity
-- Inactivity time
-- Lock/wipe settings

Extended SMTP Domain Management - allows the creation and extended management of multiple SMTP domains, including the ability to assign corresponding email addresses to mail-enabled objects. The system also automatically populates SMTP domains from existing recipient policies.

Enhanced Email Aliases Management - multiple email aliases for mail-enabled objects can be added/edited/deleted. Administrators can configure one of the email aliases as the primary address for the object.

Mailbox Store Management - allows administrators to manage configuration settings for various mailbox stores across all Exchange servers, mount or dismount mailbox stores or delegate these tasks to help-desk administrators based on IT policy.
