Allconnect Deploys Mule at the Heart of New Service-Enabled Architecture
Mule Connects Core Business Application With Other Peripheral Systems

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - March 18, 2009) - MuleSource, the leading provider of
open source service oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure software,
today announced that Allconnect, Inc., provider of essential home services
and connections, has deployed the Mule Enterprise ESB
platform as the basis for a new service-enabled architecture that will also
allow them to modernize their homegrown ACCORD application.
ACCORD houses much of the core functionality necessary to run Allconnect's
business, including order management, customer service, and a user
interface for their two call centers in Utah and Georgia. Built with a
traditional "monolithic" architecture, any changes made in one part of the
ACCORD application could have unintended consequences in another, making
development and integration costly due to required time-consuming
regression testing. By service-enabling ACCORD, Allconnect is able to
upgrade and enhance the system incrementally in pieces, without affecting
other parts of the system.
Additionally, faced with a proliferation of systems requiring integration
with ACCORD, Allconnect sought to leverage Mule as a standardized platform.
By using connectors and transports available out of the box, they avoid the
costly burden of custom point-to-point integration.
"Based on cost, breadth of interface, case studies from other
technologists, strength of community, flexibility, and the open source
availability, we chose Mule," said Neil Singer, CIO of Allconnect. "By
using Mule to service-enable ACCORD, we can get the most out of the assets
we already have while still satisfying the increasingly demanding business
requirements."
From MuleSource, Allconnect purchased a Mule Enterprise subscription, which
provides enterprise-class features and tools such as Mule HQ for monitoring
and management, and gives Allconnect access to 24x7 technical support
services. The company also engaged MuleSource Consulting to help with the
prototyping and architectural phases of the project.
"We are pleased that Allconnect is seeing benefits from their deployment of
Mule Enterprise," said Joan Beardsley, vice president of services at
MuleSource. "The significant cost savings and reduced time-to-value that
they are seeing by working with us are great validation for MuleSource's
technology, support and services."
